Skills, not topics
A skill is one narrow thing. Not “rounding” but “round a 3-digit number to the nearest hundred”. Not “vocabulary” but “work out what a word means from pre-, re- or mis-”.
They are grouped into strands and addressed by a code — A.1, C.7— the same way a teacher already sets work. That precision is the point: it is the difference between a report saying “68% in maths” and one saying rounding is fine, two-digit multiplication is not.
It teaches before it tests
Every skill opens with the idea, then a worked example with the reasoning shown — not just the answer — then practice with the explanation still on screen, then practice from memory. Get something wrong and you are told why on the spot, not at the end.
Maths and science problems reveal a real step-by-step solution afterwards, and anything built on a named formula shows that formula on its own line.
Wrong answers are the useful part
The multiple-choice options are not filler. Each wrong answer is a specific mistake people actually make — rounding down when the digit is 5, reading a digit instead of its value, counting places from the wrong end. Which one someone picks says what they believe, not just that they missed it.
That is what makes the progress worth reading: a parent sees the misunderstanding, not a percentage.
It works out the level rather than assuming it
Age is a guess. An older learner can be at an earlier stage and a younger one ready for far more — both completely ordinary, and being handed material aimed at the wrong stage is how people decide they are bad at a subject.
So the first time you open a subject, a short set of questions works out roughly where you are and starts you there, adjusting quietly as you practise. No test to sit, no score to be judged on.
Mastery moves both ways
A skill goes from unseen, to attempted, to familiar, to proficient, to mastered — and it can go back down. A mastery level that only ever rises is a participation trophy. Skills you have not touched in a while come back around on their own, spaced further apart the better you know them.
Test Your Knowledge
A separate challenge mode, mixing the hardest practice items with analogy puzzles — A is to B as C is to ___. It is deliberately harder, it is optional, and it can never cost you a streak. A challenge that can punish you is one nobody opens.
Your own cards, too
The catalogue covers what a curriculum covers. It cannot cover Friday's twelve Spanish verbs or the bones of the hand, so you can make your own sets and practise them the same way. Nothing you make yourself counts towards your level — it is your material, and grading someone on notes nobody checked would make the level meaningless.

What it isn't
It is not a replacement for a teacher, a classroom, or an adult who knows the learner. It does not grade anyone, and it does not decide what someone is capable of. It is practice material and an honest read on where things stand — useful in the hands of a person, not instead of one.
Maths and English are much the deepest, and the others are smaller — worth saying rather than leaving you to find out. What decides the size is whether a rule can produce the questions. Chemistry can: the periodic table is data and naming, weighing and balancing are rules over it, so it is the largest course outside maths. English can too, and further than it looks — a sentence is assembled from a subject, a verb and its modifiers, so parts of speech, agreement, tense, voice and punctuation are unlimited rather than drawn from a list somebody typed. What stays smaller is what genuinely has no rule behind it: reading a source, designing an experiment, making something. Those are named inside each course as strands still being written rather than quietly left out. Reading comprehension is the clearest case — a passage has to be written before anyone can be asked what it means. Languages sit outside the grade scale entirely, because a beginner in Spanish might be in tenth grade or might be forty.
