Privacy Policy
Last updated July 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Young's Digital Atelier LLC, a subsidiary of Young's Multimedia Holdings LLC ("YDABlocks," "we," "us"), collects, uses, and protects information when you use YDABlocks. YDABlocks is a general-audience educational tool. It includes use by students, and when it is used through a school we take on additional responsibilities described below and on our Children's & Student Privacypage. We treat everyone's information with care, and student information with the highest level of it.
1. Our role: we work on behalf of schools
When YDABlocks is used by a school or district, we act as a "School Official" performing an outsourced institutional function under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). This means we handle student information only under the direction and control of the school, and only for the educational purpose the school authorized. Schools remain in control of their students' data.
2. What we collect
- Account information: name and email for adult accounts (parents, teachers, and administrators).
- Roster information (school use): student first name, grade level, class enrollment, and the teacher a student is associated with — provided by the school or its rostering system.
- Learning activity: the builds a student creates, the training examples they make, and how they use the four blocks.
- Richard conversation content: the messages exchanged between a student and Richard, so he can respond and so the experience stays safe.
- Usage analytics: how often features are used, in aggregate, so we can improve the tool and right-size the service. We do not use analytics to profile individual students.
- Billing information: handled directly by Stripe; we receive your subscription status and plan, never your full card number.
- Technical data: standard server logs (IP address, timestamps) kept for security and abuse prevention.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not sell student data — ever.
- We do not use student data for behavioral advertising or to target ads to students.
- We do not build a profile of a student except as needed to deliver the educational service the school authorized.
- We do not knowingly retain student data longer than needed for the school's purpose (see Data Retention & Deletion).
4. Why we collect it
Solely to deliver YDABlocks: to sign a student in, to show them their own builds, to let Richard respond helpfully and safely, and to keep the tool working. We do not collect information for any purpose unrelated to running the service.
5. How we protect it
We encrypt information in transit and at rest, restrict who can access student information, and log access to sensitive records. Full detail is on our Security Practices page. Richard conversation content is treated as our most sensitive data class and is protected accordingly.
6. Who we share information with
We use a small number of trusted service providers to host the tool, process payments, and send email — none of them receive or store student identifying data. Each is listed on our Sub-processors page.
7. Parental and student rights
For school accounts, requests to access, review, correct, or delete a student's information are handled through the student's school, which controls the data. For direct consumer and family accounts, the account holder — a parent or guardian in the case of a child — can access, correct, export, or delete their own or their family's information at any time from Settings.
8. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details on the cookies we use to keep you signed in.
9. Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves; material changes will be noted here.
